J. Lowry Curley, PhD is the CEO of AxoSim. AxoSim is the premier neuroscience R&D provider to the pharmaceutical industry. Animal testing is yesterday’s gold standard. AxoSim’s Nerve-on-a-Chip® delivers human data, faster to revolutionize the search for cures to the most devastating neurodegenerative diseases in the world. Lowry received his PhD at Tulane University in biomedical engineering and completed research in Antwerp, Belgium developing neural engineering technology in collaboration with Janssen Pharmaceuticals. Subsequently, Lowry was the Director of Product Development with a startup company commercializing pharmaceutical research products. His passion for translating scientific breakthroughs to market adoption led him to co-found AxoSim in 2014 with the mission of enabling advancements in human health, so that patients in need can get the care they deserve. Lowry has presented at international industry conferences, won the NOEW Coulter IDEApitch, is named on several patents, and has received over $3M in small business awards from the National Institute of Health and National Science Foundation. Lowry was recently honored as one of the 2018 “Business People of the Year” by Biz New Orleans and also serves on the New Orleans BioDistrict Board.
